Frequently Asked Questions
Confidential, personalized adoptive parent process:
We are a small agency. We open our adoptive parent pool to 10-20 couples a year. This makes it possible for you to feel known and cared for in your adoption process.
Individual Information Gathering Session:
We believe it is important for us to get to know one another before we commit to your adoption process together. For this reason we take a lot of time during an individual interview to get to know one another and to answer any questions you might have about adoption in general and our agency specifically. By the end of that session we both usually have a good feel about whether or not we have a match.
Small Intimate Adoptive Parent Training Sessions:
All adoptive parents are required by the Department of Human Services to have 12 hours of parent training. We believe you need more to be truly prepared as parents.
We offer an extensive training that empowers adoptive parents in the complex and tender issues of adoption. In addition, we know and understand the vulnerable and tender hearts of couples that have been through years of disappointment. We create a safe place for the tender places of the heart so that couples can heal from their infertility experience and move on.
We have designed training to be a powerful support system. Couples train with 4-6 other couples. After training is complete, couples meet monthly in one another’s home for potlucks. These monthly gatherings offer much needed support during the waiting period. Couples throw baby showers for one another when babies begin to arrive. Many of these groups continue to gather for support years after their entire group members have become parents.
